Hi, I’m Kristen Nicol, a licensed speech-language pathologist passionate about helping children grow in confidence, connection, and communication.

My unique clinical background being a mixture of both outpatient and school settings provides ample experience servicing a wide variety of children. I have supported children in improving speech sound clarity, mastering that tricky “r” sound, saying their first words, using sentences, obtaining and learning AAC devices, supporting advocacy, and so much more.

I specialize in working with children with speech sounds, language, and social communication needs using evidence-based, play-centered approaches tailored to each child’s unique strengths and needs. My goal is to create a warm, encouraging environment where children feel comfortable learning and families feel supported throughout the process.

I believe communication is more than words—it’s connection, confidence, and the ability to engage with the world around us. Whether we’re practicing first words, building conversation skills, or supporting connection, I strive to make therapy engaging, meaningful, and empowering for both children and their caregivers.

The name Little River Speech is personal to me. We live along the Big Darby Creek, and I named the practice after both that and my first baby, my dog, River. It reflects the peaceful, grounding environment I hope families feel when they walk through the door. My office is a cozy country space where children and families can enjoy views of the chicken coop and surrounding farm while engaging in therapy that is meaningful and fun.

I look forward to meeting you and your family and supporting your child’s growth every step of the way.
